Transplace donates $150,000 plus advanced logistics technology and services and will help plan new food bank Hub in Northern California

Transplace announced a landmark partnership with Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. Transplace is donating $150,000 to Feeding America and is supporting them from a technology and services standpoint, including a project on how to optimally create and deliver a new hub that will serve as a distribution center in Northern California. Feeding America, the California Association of Food Banks, Northern California food banks and partner agencies will gain unprecedented logistics visibility and expertise to support solutions that will help address the issue of hunger in America by leveraging Transplace’s advanced logistics technologies, proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS), and the power and intelligence of Transplace’s $9 billion freight under management.

“With 2.3 million households in rural communities facing hunger, addressing the most vulnerable residents is a priority,” said Blake Thompson, chief supply chain officer at Feeding America. “Transplace has been a dedicated, reliable third-party logistics partner supporting our national food distribution efforts since 2011, and we are grateful to collaborate with the transportation management experts. The results of these efforts will help us build a model that can be leveraged for future rural hunger initiatives.”

“We are thrilled about our ongoing, expanding partnership with Feeding America through our Transplace Cares initiative and various business engagements,” said Frank McGuigan, Transplace CEO. “At Transplace, we have unique skills, competencies, and knowledge that directly address Feeding America’s mission of ending hunger, while simultaneously benefiting local communities where our employees and customers work and live. It’s a truly unique symbiotic partnership.”

Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 member food banks that together reach every county and community in the United States. For 40 years, the organization has helped families struggling to put food on their tables. One in seven Americans turns to the Feeding America network of food banks for help annually.
