Committed to the U.S. and the City of Los Angeles

This donation is a testimony to the Group’s unwavering commitment to the U.S. As the country’s top ocean freight carrier, CMA CGM serves 19 U.S. ports with 34 services and 93 weekly port calls. In addition, the Group’s subsidiary, American President Lines (APL), operates a fleet of U.S. Flagged vessels in international trade supporting U.S. military stationed around the world. The CMA CGM Group employs more than 10,000 team members nationwide and is also a leading provider of logistics services through its subsidiary CEVA Logistics.

The CMA CGM Group is especially committed to the City and the Port of Los Angeles, the country’s top gateway hub where it maintains 10 weekly services and where it is the number-one carrier, connecting the U.S. to the rest of the world. Some of the masks will therefore be distributed to the workers of the Port of Los Angeles in recognition of their dedication and efforts to keep the supply chains running during these difficult times.

Global efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic

As a world leader in shipping and logistics, the CMA CGM Group has leveraged its unique expertise and global logistics network to build logistical bridges supporting communities throughout the world in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Group has accomplished feats such as the expedited movement of entire medical production lines from Asia to North America, test-kit and ventilator air and ground transport throughout the U.S. as well as the delivery of 20 million masks and medical supplies to France in only 4 days. CEVA Logistics’ Los Angeles operations facility was involved in the coordination of the air charters for this special delivery.

In addition, the CMA CGM Group has brought relief to some of the most vulnerable communities around the world by donating more than 1.2 million masks as well as several tons of medical and hygienic supplies, emergency food assistance, storage containers, and educational support.

On this occasion, Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, states: “The CMA CGM Group has nourished a close and sustainable relationship, based on trust and respect, with the United States for many years. As a leading company, our partnership reaches far beyond our business activity. In this very difficult period, it means a lot to us that we stand alongside the United States to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic”.

“Los Angeles is a great global city - and during this health crisis, partners from around the world are stepping forward,” says Mayor Eric Garcetti. “CMA CGM’s donation of 200,000 masks reflects the power of our partnerships, and these masks will help the city protect and save lives”.

Gene Seroka, Port of Los Angeles Executive Director and City of LA Chief Logistics Officer, adds: “CMA CGM is playing a key role in keeping the supply chain running during this pandemic. We are very proud to have CMA CGM as a friend and partner, and look forward to many years of close collaboration on all levels for the benefit of trade and humanity”.
