The CMA CGM Group donates 200,000 face masks to Mayor Eric Garcetti, for the City of Los Angeles

The masks will be used to help support the city’s supply and to support the resilient men and women at Port of Los Angeles as they work to keep supply chains running.

Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, has donated 200,000 face masks to the City of Los Angeles to help support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Committed to the U.S. and the City of Los Angeles

This donation is a testimony to the Group’s unwavering commitment to the U.S. As the country’s top ocean freight carrier, CMA CGM serves 19 U.S. ports with 34 services and 93 weekly port calls. In addition, the Group’s subsidiary, American President Lines (APL), operates a fleet of U.S. Flagged vessels in international trade supporting U.S. military stationed around the world. The CMA CGM Group employs more than 10,000 team members nationwide and is also a leading provider of logistics services through its subsidiary CEVA Logistics.

The CMA CGM Group is especially committed to the City and the Port of Los Angeles, the country’s top gateway hub where it maintains 10 weekly services and where it is the number-one carrier, connecting the U.S. to the rest of the world. Some of the masks will therefore be distributed to the workers of the Port of Los Angeles in recognition of their dedication and efforts to keep the supply chains running during these difficult times.

Global efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic

The Group has accomplished feats such as the expedited movement of entire medical production lines from Asia to North America, test-kit and ventilator air and ground transport throughout the U.S. as well as the delivery of 20 million masks and medical supplies to France in only 4 days. CEVA Logistics’ Los Angeles operations facility was involved in the coordination of the air charters for this special delivery.

In addition, the CMA CGM Group has brought relief to some of the most vulnerable communities around the world by donating more than 1.2 million masks as well as several tons of medical and hygienic supplies, emergency food assistance, storage containers, and educational support.
