Stenersen joins Ahti Pool

Jul 17, 2025

Ahti Pool announced that family-owned shipowner Stenersen has joined its FuelEU Maritime pool.

This strategic collaboration marks a significant step forward for both companies in driving down CO2 emissions across the Northern European tanker trade, as well as seamless compliance with FuelEU Maritime.

Stenersen will integrate its modern, environmentally friendly fleet of 19 chemical and product tankers (13–18,500 dwt) into Ahti Pool’s platform. The vessels, which are known for thriving in harsh North Sea conditions, will benefit from Ahti Pool’s proprietary emissions-management platform and bunker-sourcing expertise.

“Joining Ahti Pool is a natural extension of our mission to provide safe, reliable, and effective transportation while pursuing the highest environmental standards,” said Christopher Stenersen, Environmental Advisor at Stenersen. “For our FuelEU Maritime compliance, Rederiet Stenersen has chosen Ahti Climate as pooling organizer, based on their competitive pricing, strong industry insight, and operational flexibility.”

Ahti also manages Neste’s tanker fleet, Van Weelde Group’s handysize and ultramax fleet, and ships from Bore/Spliethoff – and has more than €100 millions of emissions exposure.

“Our vision is to remove the complexity and cost from emissions compliance,” said Risto-Juhani Kariranta, CEO of Ahti Pool. “By welcoming Stenersen into our pool, we’re not only expanding our collective footprint for sustainability, but also showcasing the power of collaboration. Together, we’ll be setting a new standard for compliance simplicity and emissions reduction in the tanker segment.”
