Shipping’s first TV style talk show to air with Nor-Shipping and Ocean Now

Apr 16, 2021

Nor-Shipping has confirmed details of a new business talk and entertainment show that will air for the first time as part of its Ocean Now initiative on 1 June 2021. The Today Show by Nor-Shipping will beam from Skuld’s rooftop terrace at its Oslo headquarters, with Pia Meling of Massterly as host and an array of the ocean industry’s leading names discussing key issues. The free and easy to access broadcast will also, the Nor-Shipping team promises, feature “surprise content” to entertain and engage global audiences.

Hot Topic Talks

“This really is a first of its kind initiative for the maritime and ocean industries,” comments Nor-Shipping Director Per Martin Tanggaard. “Taking the format of a lively and informal business talk show, we’re looking to mix insight with entertainment to deliver something truly memorable for the decision makers that would usually descend on Oslo for Nor-Shipping at this time.

“The show will blend interviews, panel discussions, insights and reports on the very latest business developments in the ocean space with much, much more. It’ll be a unique opportunity for the industry to gather remotely and connect with something that delivers both business value and viewing pleasure. We believe this is going to be a real industry talking point for months to come.”

Opportunity Awaits

Guests, panellists, contributors and details of special segments will be revealed in the run-up to the broadcast, but Nor-Shipping has already confirmed content touching on issues including the post-Corona market, crew changes, financing, renewable energy, emerging business trends, and more. The rescheduled Nor-Shipping, now taking place on 10-13 January 2022, will also form a natural focal point.

“Ocean Now has been conceived to help our industry continue collaborating, sharing knowledge, building relationships, and taking #ACTION in the run-up to Nor-Shipping itself,” explains fellow Nor-Shipping Director Karen Algaard. “The Today Show will be central to that mission, appealing to a wide array of stakeholders, while additional online and physical activity – including a new global conference, Nor-Shipping Hydrogen Blue Talks – Fuelling the Future on 2 June – will relay the latest business opportunities and developments in our dynamic industry. Corona virus may have stopped us meeting, but it has certainly not stopped the need for progress, profit and sustainable ocean success.”

Reuniting the Industry

Algaard continues: “We see Ocean Now both as an important platform for people to gather and as a stepping stone on the path to Nor-Shipping 2022 – our first ever ‘winter wonderland’ event in beautiful Norway. The Today Show will disclose further details of what lies ahead as we prepare to reunite, rejuvenate and reboot the industry in the aftermath of the global pandemic. Tune in to find out more!”

The Today Show by Nor-Shipping will be free to access with viewers simply completing an online registration form.

Speaking of the opportunity to host the show, Pia Meling, currently VP at Massterly and a former head of WISTA Norway, concludes: “I’m thrilled to be involved in something so unique. Nor-Shipping has a reputation for innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing and this new Ocean Now format ticks all those boxes, and more. It’ll be great to meet some very special guests in the studio, discussing the challenges, opportunities and strategies that lie ahead for the ocean space. I think this will be an excellent way to build excitement and support the industry ahead of Nor-Shipping 2022.”
