Shipbuilders Council of America announces annual safety awards for U.S. shipyards for CY25

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA), the national association representing the U.S. shipbuilding, maintenance, and repair industry, today announced its annual member safety awards for the 2025 calendar year. This year, 21 shipyards across Alabama, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin are receiving awards for their achievements in safety.

“Safety is the foundation of everything we do in the shipbuilding and repair industry. The men and women in our shipyards perform complex work every day, and it is our responsibility to ensure they return home safely,” said Matthew Paxton, President of the Shipbuilders Council of America. “This year’s award recipients are setting the standard for what a strong safety culture looks like across the industry. As the Administration and Congress place greater focus on strengthening America’s shipbuilding industry, these shipyards’ commitment to protecting their workforce helps strengthen the nation’s industrial base and ensures we can continue building the fleet of the future.”

Year after year, the shipbuilding industry continues to improve its safety performance, enabling U.S. shipyards to adapt their operations and effectively address challenges as they arise.
