Seventh Annual Arpin Strong Golf Tournament raises over $22,000 for charity

The Arpin Charitable Fund announced today that its Seventh Annual Arpin Strong Golf Tournament / Bob Sullivan and Mark Dearborn Memorial has successfully raised $22,107 for charity.

The Arpin Charitable Fund, also known as Arpin Strong, was formed to help those in need during natural disasters, or when unfortunate circumstances arise, by participating in community-based volunteer projects and fundraising events throughout the year.

The organization’s board members were thrilled to host its largest fund-raising event of the year on 15 October after having to cancel in 2020 due to the pandemic. Although this year’s charity golf tournament was scaled back to ensure proper social distancing protocols could be followed, the event still garnered a full complement of golfers for the 9-hole course. Overlooking beautiful Narragansett Bay, the Jamestown Golf Course, located in Jamestown, Rhode Island, is believed to be one of the oldest public courses in the United States.

“Arpin Charitable Fund is enabling starving people across Haiti, Malawi, and the Philippines to grow nutritious food and organizations to get solar, storage, solar irrigation, and food drying equipment, such as the Ecogenesis outreach program in the Philippines, which is helping to increase farm yields, preserve food, and helping members of the community get access to electricity support in a community center,” said Timothy Maurer, President, the Global Institute For Transformation® (GIFT). Mr. Maurer went on to say, “None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the Arpin Charitable Fund and their wonderful donors and volunteers. We are so very grateful for the funds from this year’s Arpin Strong Golf Tournament, which will allow GIFT to make significant impacts in the lives of the poor globally.” 

Of the funds raised at this year’s event, $11,000 was donated to the Global Institute For Transformation, this year’s selected charity partner. Moreover, in remembrance of Bob Sullivan and Mark Dearborn, two highly-respected colleagues that passed away and for whom the tournament was renamed, the Coalition Against Pediatric Pain, Merlin’s Kids, A Wish Come True, and Marguerite’s Place were also selected to receive donations by members of the Sullivan and Dearborn families. The remainder of the funds will be used to promote other nonprofit organizations and to continue with regular monthly donations to various charities.
