SeaLand update on US Gulf ports - Hurricane Laura

As SeaLand monitors Hurricane Laura and Post-Tropical Cyclone Marco, the safety of its teams and cargo operations remains a top priority.

SeaLand’s operational team is in constant touch with the US Coast Guard and Port leaders to ensure the latest updates.

POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE MARCO: On the forecast track, Marco should continue moving westward just offshore the coast of Louisiana until the system dissipates.

HURRICANE LAURA: Forecast to become major hurricane over the north-western Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, August 26^th. Laura is forecast to move over the central and north western Gulf of Mexico tonight and Wednesday, approach the Upper Texas and Southwest Louisiana coasts on Wednesday night and move inland near those area on Thursday.

Port Operations

Houston: Port condition X-RAY set. Houston Ship Channel Closed to inbound traffic.

New Orleans: Port Condition ZULU set. Port is closed for all operations.

The Port Conditions are:

Condition Whiskey (IV): The ALERT condition in which winds above 39 mph are expected within 72 hours.
Condition X-Ray (III): The READINESS condition in which winds above 39 mph are expected within 48 hours.
Condition Yankee (II): The WARNING condition in which winds above 39 mph are expected within 24 hours.
Condition Zulu (I): The DANGER condition in which winds above 39 mph are expected within 12 hours and until the storm has passed and is no longer a threat.
