Nov 15, 2024

The responsible company has once again been recognized by the Women in Trucking Association

Schneider National, Inc., a premier multimodal provider of transportation, intermodal and logistics services, has once again earned top honors for its inclusive culture. For the sixth consecutive year, Schneider has been named a 2024 Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women in Trucking Association (WIT).This prestigious accolade highlights companies that foster a corporate culture that champions women, offer competitive compensation and benefits, and support professional development and career advancement opportunities.Women hold approximately 13 percent of Schneider’s driver roles, which is nearly double the industry average, and 40 percent of leadership positions. This year, the company also saw an increase in the number of women diesel technicians hired in its shops across the U.S.“Being consistently named a Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation is a true testament to our ongoing efforts at Schneider to create a workplace where everyone can excel,” said Schneider Executive Vice President of Human Resources Angela Fish. “Schneider has made a commitment to being a responsible company that fosters an environment where associates feel safe, supported and empowered to share their creativity and ideas.

That approach helps all associates to thrive, and I am beyond proud of the strides we have made and continue to make in empowering women across all levels at the company.”What makes this award even more significant is that it is validated by an industry-wide vote involving over 31,000 transportation professionals, including executives, managers, HR/talent specialists and professional drivers. Schneider stands proudly among “The Elite 30,” the top 30 companies that garnered the highest number of votes.Associate Jess Martin, who joined Schneider in 2022 as a driver recruiting specialist and has since transitioned to join the corporate legal team as a paralegal, shared, “This is a space where I can say what I think and feel, which is what keeps me here. It’s nice to be at a company where diversity – not just as a woman or as a person of color, but as an individual with a different experience – is welcome.”Schneider is deliberate in fostering a supportive environment for women, offering:

  • Many opportunities for career progression, training and leadership development.
  • An industry-leading mixed-gender driver training guideline.
  • Scholarships for women studying to be mechanics from the Schneider Foundation.

Driver and U.S. Army National Guard service member Mildred Wells-Toney, who had over 20 years of driving experience before joining Schneider, commented, “I applied to Schneider Intermodal in 2017 when I wanted to improve my career prospects. I wasn’t looking for Intermodal, but I love it. Schneider has a good thing going on. I can be home every day, and I believe the safety program is good, too.”Additionally, Schneider’s longest standing Business Resource Group (BRG) is its Schneider Women’s Network, which intends to attract, develop and retain the best talent and ensure nothing stands in the way of women growing their careers at Schneider.
