RTA broadens fleet solutions with independent fleet consulting services

Oct 02, 2024

RTA: The Fleet Success Company—an industry leader in fleet maintenance and management information software (FMIS)—is returning to its roots with RTA Consulting, expanding its current offerings with fleet management consulting services. This move extends the company’s more than four decades of expertise and fills critical gaps in the fleet industry. RTA Consulting addresses common challenges faced by fleet managers, such as resource limitations, skills gaps, and a need for external support on strategic projects.

“RTA was initially founded in 1979 as a fleet consulting company, then quickly evolved into the FMIS software we know today. While we continue to emphasize and build a great fleet management system, we recognize a growing challenge in the market: fleet managers need more than just technology,” said Josh Turley, CEO of RTA and grandson of founder Ron Turley. “They need strategic guidance and wisdom that most software companies can’t provide. Our consulting services enable us to be a truly great partner for fleet managers, as we offer the expertise fleet leaders need to tackle today’s complex fleet environment, setting them up for sustained success. Whether it’s navigating new technologies, optimizing operations, or improving staff retention and recruitment, RTA Consulting is here to help fleets succeed for both current demands and future challenges.”

Fleet managers are facing increasing pressure to satisfy stakeholders, increase resource efficiency, attract and retain talent, and minimize risk. RTA has identified that many fleets are strapped for resources and often require outside assistance to meet their organization’s evolving needs. RTA Consulting provides expert guidance in key areas, independent of RTA’s software offerings, making them available to all fleets—whether or not they’re current RTA customers.

“Any fleet can leverage RTA Consulting without being pressured to become RTA software customers,” said Marc Canton, Head of Product and Consulting. “We only want to help fleets succeed and use their existing fleet management software to its full capacity.”

RTA’s fleet management consulting services cover a range of critical projects, such as:

• EV Transition Planning: Helping fleets assess readiness and plan for an electric vehicle future.

• Fleet Right-Sizing: Providing insights into the optimal fleet size for cost and operational efficiency.

• Fleet Replacement Planning: Creating a thorough plan for replacing fleet assets to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and control costs.

• Fleet Performance: Assisting fleets in setting and tracking key performance indicators to ensure alignment with operational goals.

• Mergers & Acquisitions: Providing expert guidance for private equity and investment firms and large fleet-based organizations navigating mergers and acquisitions to ensure smooth transitions.

Other service areas include temporary fleet professional staffing, infrastructure recommendations, process documentation and review, fleet data and technology analysis, staffing plans and recruitment, fleet policy development, fleet services bid planning, facility needs analysis, and operations assessments.

RTA Consulting is powered by a team of seasoned professionals who have consulted with hundreds of fleets across their careers, and possess more than 300 years of combined fleet experience. In addition to their direct work with fleets through consulting, these experts frequently present at industry conferences, offering broader insights into fleet leadership, operational best practices, and the latest trends in technology integration. Though this current iteration is a new offering, RTA Consulting has already delivered significant financial savings and operational improvements across multiple industries. RTA Consulting has saved a wide variety of clients more than $25 million, and these clients surpass industry fleet performance benchmarks in availability rates, work order turnaround time, scheduled work, and PM compliance.

“In my 30 years in fleet, and as a user of RTA’s Fleet Management Information System, I can honestly say that RTA’s consulting team is the best in the business,” said Dan Zenger, Fleet Superintendent for the City of Vancouver, Washington. “Not only do they offer years of fleet experience, they offer a unique personal touch of caring: caring about your fleet, caring about you as a customer. They want you and your fleet to succeed! This sets them apart from other fleet consulting teams. When I have fleet needs, RTA is who I turn to.”
