Port of Oakland names new Maritime Marketing Manager

The Port of Oakland today announced the appointment of new Maritime Marketing Manager Carolyn Almquist. She brings with her a wealth of private sector experience in international trade.

Almquist joins the Port of Oakland after 25 years with American President Lines (APL), a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group. She worked her way through the ranks to executive leadership roles, including the Head of Cargo Flow (Americas). Her expertise includes coordinating complex global logistics in rapidly changing domestic and international environments.

“We are fortunate to have Carolyn Almquist join our maritime team,” said Port of Oakland Maritime Director Bryan Brandes. “Her appointment is essential to our comprehensive strategy to reach new overseas markets.”

Almquist’s experience in leveraging foreign market opportunities and developing strategic market plans will support the Port’s goal to grow its maritime business portfolio. As Senior Director of Transpacific Export Trade, Almquist helped lead APL to capture top ocean carrier market share status of U.S. West Coast ports.

“I’m excited to be joining the Port of Oakland in this role,” said Almquist. “My goal is to use my expertise in promoting international trade at the Port of Oakland while maximizing our existing business potential.”
