Port of Oakland hosts trucker appreciation event

Apr 11, 2025

The Port of Oakland hosted its annual Trucker Appreciation event on Thursday, April 3, to thank Port drayage truck drivers for their hard work and dedication. The event is part of the Port’s ongoing effort to engage directly with truckers and recognize their vital role in keeping goods moving.

“Truckers are the largest workforce at the Oakland Seaport and are the backbone of our local, regional and national economy,” said Port of Oakland Maritime Director Bryan Brandes. “Their work ensures the steady flow of cargo and keeps our supply chain moving. These vital contributions too often go unrecognized, but they are essential to our success.”

The event reached nearly 1500 truckers and offered an opportunity for Port Maritime staff to answer questions, listen to feedback, provide resources, share information on zero emission goals, and give updates on many of the transformative capital improvement projects that are underway at the Seaport.

Truckers were also treated to lunch from a variety of local food trucks stationed throughout the Seaport, including Olivia’s Catering, J & K Catering, El Patron, Ariana Hot Dogs, Tacos Los Cuates, and La Chole.

Port staff were encouraged by the positive feedback from truckers.
