Port of Kapellskär welcomes Tallink Silja’s Star 1 to the Kapellskär - Paldiski route

The shipping company Tallink Silja is strengthening its traffic between Estonia and Sweden by deploying a larger and more modern ship on the Kapellskär - Paldiski route. On 10 February, Star 1 made its first call at Port of Kapellskär, which means increased freight capacity and improved comfort for travelers.

Tallink Silja operates the Kapellskär-Paldiski route with several departures a week. Now Star 1 replaces the previous vessels Regal Star and Sailor but with the same number of departures. Star 1 has higher freight capacity and better amenities for car passengers.

"We warmly welcome Star 1 to Port of Kapellskär. The increased freight capacity creates new opportunities for freight customers to increase their volumes and contribute to sustainable shipping. The vessel operates according to a new timetable that also complements the ferry Baltic Queen, which operates the route between Tallinn and Stockholm. This means that ferry journeys between Estonia and Sweden are offered almost daily.

"We are pleased to introduce Star 1 on the Kapellskär-Paldiski route. Star 1 is one of our largest vessels in terms of freight capacity and can also carry many more passengers. On some days there is the possibility to travel between the two countries twice a day, including day trips," says Paavo Nõgene, CEO Tallink Group.

The vessel Star 1 has been chartered out since May 2023 and has offered transport services between Ireland and the UK, but is now back in Tallink Silja's fleet.

Port of Kapellskär is the northernmost port of Ports of Stockholm and an important link between Sweden, Finland and Estonia. The location combined with the very short entry time makes it possible to quickly transport goods and passengers to and from the entire Stockholm region.
