For a record sixth consecutive year, Port Canaveral has been named “Best U.S. Cruise Homeport” by the readers of Cruise Hive, a popular online cruise industry publication for cruise enthusiasts. The award is based on reader votes cast between mid-October and mid-December. Port Canaveral garnered 27.3% of the total to claim the title as the favorite among cruisers.

“This has been a tremendous year for Port Canaveral. Recognition like this validates the consistent hard work our people put in to making our Port the best it can be with a focus on continuous improvement to ensure we provide a high-quality guest experience,” said Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO.

Cruise Hive editors remarked, “While some cruisers opt for the most conveniently close homeport, the smoothness of parking, check-in, and even debarkation are all factors in just how popular a port may be. Port Canaveral excels at the cruise experience, with easy-to-read signage directing drivers to their respective cruise terminals and ample parking ensuring a smooth arrival and departure.”

Port Canaveral achieved the world’s busiest cruise port distinction with 8.6 million revenue passenger movements in Fiscal Year 2025. Recently named Cruise Critic’s “Best North American Homeport," Port Canaveral is currently home to seven leading cruise brands operating over 1,000 sailings from 18 ships, including some of the newest, largest, and most technically advanced ships in the world offering a wide range of itineraries, from weekend getaways to week-long adventures and beyond, visiting some of the world’s most spectacular destinations. A popular drive-to market, approximately 75 percent of passengers sailing from Port Canaveral drive to their cruise.

“Thoughtful, forward-facing investments and development projects keep the port at the forefront of technology and innovation, ensuring an updated and ever-adapting experience for millions of cruise guests each year,” noted Cruise Hive editors.

Port Canaveral is committed to enhancing the guest experience through initiatives such as the Port Canaveral Advantage, a $912 million five-year capital improvement program that includes facilities upgrades, the expansion of two existing terminals, additional parking facilities and technology that allows for more efficient embarkation and debarkation.

Cruise Hive has become a popular resource for cruise enthusiasts with informative content about the world of cruising, including global cruise news, cruise ship information, and port tips.
