In April 2025, the Port Authority’s commercial airports saw their third busiest April ever, welcoming approximately 11.9 million passengers. This was a 2 percent decline from April 2024, the agency’s busiest April on record. Flight cancellations at Newark Liberty International Airport due to Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control issues accounted for nearly all of the year-to-year decline.

Over the first four months of the year, the Port Authority’s commercial airports welcomed approximately 43.8 million passengers. This was a decline of 1.5 percent from the same period of 2024, which was the busiest first quarter on record for the agency’s airports.

Port of New York and New Jersey:

The Port of New York and New Jersey recorded strong activity in April 2025, handling 751,194 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) over the month. This was an increase of 24 percent from April 2019 and was a 6 percent jump from April 2024.

Over the first four months of the year, the Port of New York and New Jersey handled 2,954,913 TEUs. This marked a 23 percent jump from the same period of 2019 and an increase of 9 percent from the first four months of 2024.
