Old Dominion recognized for environmental performance for 6th consecutive year

For the sixth consecutive year, Old Dominion has been awarded the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Excellence Award. The award distinguishes the LTL carrier as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.

Old Dominion has proactively worked to reduce emissions, increase fuel performance, and provide cleaner air for the communities it serves. Old Dominion will continue to contribute to the SmartWay partnership’s savings of:
Through its partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, OD continues to demonstrate its strong environmental leadership role in the LTL industry and corporate responsibility.

  • 279.7 million oil barrels
  • $37.5 billion in fuel costs
  • 134 million tons of air pollutants
  • All of this is equivalent to eliminating annual electricity use in 18.2 million homes.
