Ningbo Containerized Freight index rises in August

From January to July, the Container throughput of Chinese ports decease slightly,and the Ningbo Containerized Freight index (NCFI) rises in August

From January to July 2020, the cargo volume of Chinese ports was 8006.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%; the container throughput of Chinese ports was 144.01million TEU, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%. The overall downward trend has gradually stopped. 

The chart below shows the cargo throughput and container throughput data of the eight major ports in China.

In July, Ningbo exported containers increase 8.0% compared with the same period last year . In terms of container freight rates, by August. 21, the average value of the Ningbo Container Freight index (NCFI)  in August was quotes 868.22 points, have a increase of 9.2% compare to last month. From Ningbo to the North America route, transport demand is hot and market cargo volume is sufficient. Box liners collectively pushed up freight rate. The average freight rate of 40GP from Ningbo Port to Los Angeles port and Charleston port in August was $3312 and $3750, a month-on-month increase of 16.8% and 12.6% respectively. The average freight rate of 40GP from Ningbo Port to Novosibirsk Port in August was $2505, a month-on-month increase of 6.1%
