New US-Canada bridge opening delayed

A new $4.7 billion bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor, Ontario that was set to open in the coming days has been delayed, a bridge authority said on Thursday.

A formal ribbon-cutting had been planned for Friday, according to invitations seen by Reuters.

"Canada and the United States have agreed to delay the opening of the bridge, taking the necessary time to resolve any outstanding issues," the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority said. U.S. President Donald Trump in February threatened to block its opening.
