MSC Thessaloniki Port Congestion Surcharge effective September 12, 2021

Aug 16, 2021

At the end of July, the port of Thessaloniki started a container terminal upgrade project which is expected to help the port welcome larger vessels and become more efficient. The development of this project is impacting port activities, resulting in congestion and delays.

MSC will therefore implement, as from 12 September (B/L date) until further notice, a Port Congestion Surcharge (CGS) for all cargo to and from Thessaloniki to partly cover the extra costs arising from the berthing delays. The amount of the surcharge will be EUR 50/TEU or GBP 45/TEU or USD 60/TEU.
