MSC Announcement: USA TO FAR EAST

Mar 12, 2024

Please take note of the announcements below containing the following scopes:

UPDATE ON HAITI STATE OF EMERGENCY SITUATION AND SHIPMENT DIVERSION

USA TO FAR EAST

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA follows with utmost concern the unrest and state of emergency declared by local authorities in Haiti that has led to various breaches of the port and terminal security in Port au Prince.

Most regrettably, it has come to our attention that several containers have been looted in the terminal and at this stage we do not have further details as to the extent of the damage.

The continuing unrest on the island means we are still not able to assess the affected cargo but as soon as the situation allows our teams will ensure that impacted customers receive the information they need about their cargo.

In the meantime, and in consideration of the risk this unrest is generating for crew and cargo, MSC has suspended all vessel calls as the terminal of CPS (Caribbean Port Services S.A) is not fully operational.

Shipments currently on route to Haiti, will be diverted to the port of Caucedo where cargo will be kept for safe keeping while we continue assessing the situation.

MSC sincerely regrets the developments caused by these events beyond its control. We thank you for your understanding and patience and we will keep you updated. Should you have any questions, please contact your local MSC representatives.
