We would like to draw your attention to the recent circular issued by the Somali Ministry for Ports and Marine Transport under Ref: XW/WDGB/0136/2023 and XW/WDGB/0152/2023 mandating the requirement of an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) for all goods bound for Somalia.
This is being implemented since 05/29 for all import shipments arriving Mogadishu and the shipments landing without ECTN number will have difficulty in clearing and may attract penalties.
- Exporters must obtain an ECTN from www.ctnsomalia.com to unload any cargo at Somali ports.
- The ECTN document must be obtained from the port of loading by the shipper, exporter, booking party or freight forwarder.
- The goods without an ECTN number should not be loaded onto the vessel.
- The ECTN number must be written on the bill of lading.
- Shipments without ECTN documents arriving in Somali port will attract penalties & fines.
- Shipments without ECTN documents are prohibited from entering Somali ports.
