MOL news highlights for 2020

Dec 24, 2020

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today announced access rankings for its news releases during 2020.

1. Grounding/oil leak incident involving Wakashio:

When looking back at 2020, MOL must never forget the grounding and oil spill incident involving the MOL-chartered bulk carrier Wakashio off the island of Mauritius.

While MOL continually takes the initiative on measures to restore the environment and contribute to society and communities, the company has introduced an exclusive web page outlining the incident, environmental recovery and social contribution plans, and measures to prevent the reoccurrence of such incidents in the future.

2. Developing environment and emission-free initiatives into core businesses:

This is one of the three core strategies of the management plan “Rolling Plan (RP) 2020.” MOL introduced environmental-friendly, sustainable initiatives aimed at achieving the target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions, as stated in MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.0, and beyond that, zero emissions.

3. Provision of “stress-free services,” from the customer’s perspective:

As the second strategy in RP2020, MOL introduced initiatives aimed at improving customer satisfaction under the key words “digital” and “the environment,” such as measures to improve customer satisfaction through effective use of information and communication technology (ICT), development of one-stop service by consolidating the help center, and proposal-based sales that address environmental needs.

4. Concentrating investment on management resources, centering on offshore business:

As the third strategy in RP2020, MOL introduced projects in which it is investing management resources, deliberately and selectively focusing on its offshore business, even as the business environment has been changing moment by moment under the COVID-19 pandemic.
