Mitsui Rail Capital adds Rasmussen as a Director of Sales and Marketing

Railcar leasing company Mitsui Rail Capital, LLC (MRC) has added Jeff Rasmussen as a Director of Sales and Marketing and he joins the team with more than 30 years of rail experience – including more than 20 specifically in rail leasing. Rasmussen’s efforts will focus on territories including the Upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Western Canada.

“It’s not every day that you’re able to add somebody with as much rail experience as Jeff,” said Kevin Cook, who is the Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Mitsui Rail Capital. “Not only does he have decades of experience in rail leasing, but he’s also helped build growth everywhere he’s been. He’s going to be a tremendous asset for our team.”

Prior to joining Mitsui Rail Capital, he served as the Vice President of Railcar Leasing for CAI Rail, which is a subsidiary of the publicly traded global transportation company CAI International. Since joining CAI Rail in 2014, he helped grow their assets from $90 million to $500 million in less than five years and worked in a territory covering 17 states and half of Canada. ­­

“When you’ve been doing this as long as I have, you learn about companies’ reputations and I knew that MRC is really well-respected among shippers and also their competitors,” Rasmussen said. “I’m very impressed working here. Rasmussen has also worked for logistics management and consulting firm Professional Logistics Group, global financial service provider AllCapital Rail Management, Fortune 500 commercial finance company CIT Group, operating lessor Flex Leasing Corporation and rail carrier Consolidated Rail Corporation.
