Today’s update on the Port of Vancouver operations and the wildfires in the Lytton, BC area of Western Canada, impacting the main rail access route into the port of Vancouver.
Current Situation at Vancouver Terminal
Yard utilization is 76% of capacity- 7 days of waiting time for vessel berthing.
MV Santa Ines finished operations on July 11th, followed by MV Balthasar Schulte expected to finish operations today July 13th and MV Maersk Lins is expected to start operations at Vancouver Centerm terminal on July 15th.
CP Railway:
CP trains continue to operate, and the carrier is working on reducing the backlog and safely increasing capacity.
Embargo on traffic has been lifted, import and export from Western Canada is moving.
CN Railway:
CN Engineers continue working on the bridge repair, expecting the track to be ready shortly.
Stakeholders are working on easing the backlog; however, we are looking into minimum of one week to start seeing improvement.
The CMA CGM Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) rates applicable as from August 1st, 2026 (date of loading in the origin ports) until further notice:
