Maersk partners up for Hurricane Laura relief effort

APM Terminals Mobile, the Alabama State Port Authority, Maersk Special Project Logistics and Team Rubicon worked together this past week to collect over 36,000 pounds of bottled water, non-perishable food and other emergency supplies for distribution to those affected by Hurricane Laura in communities surrounding Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The convoy of supplies was loaded in APM Terminals Mobile, Alabama and arrived in Lake Charles on Saturday morning, September 5th for offloading and local distribution by Team Rubicon.  Team Rubicon, based in Los Angeles, CA is a volunteer organization that provides disaster response, humanitarian aid and emergency services around the globe, leveraging the unique skill sets of military veterans and first responders.  https://teamrubiconusa.org/   

Maersk Special Project Logistics has a global partnership with Team Rubicon for emergency response logistics. Both companies have worked together for similar relief efforts in Mozambique and The Bahamas.  

All Maersk and APM Terminals services were donated which included collection, consolidation and trucking services. Maersk delivered the relief supplies in two new, specially-painted, rainbow-colored Pride containers, reflecting the company’s dedication to diversity and inclusion.  

APM Terminals Mobile Managing Director, Brian Harold said “As part of the Gulf community everyone at APM Terminals Mobile was happy to pitch in and offer assistance to our friends and neighbors in Louisiana.”

Robin Townley, Head of Maersk Special Project Logistics in Washington D.C.  said “This was a group effort and all of these partners pulled together to get the relief supplies to where they were needed.”
