Maastricht hires new Head of Commercial Development to drive growth

Nov 02, 2023

Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST) has appointed Dean Boljuncic to head up the hub’s newly launched sales department.

As Head of Commercial Development, Boljuncic will drive the sustainable growth of the regional airport, with a focus on strategic partnerships with Dutch aviation shareholders, forwarders, and airlines.

Drawing on his experience as Head of Aviation Development and Partnerships at Eindhoven Airport, Boljuncic will lead MST into the next chapter of its commercial success.

Boljuncic has served as a pilot with the Croatian Air Force, held various roles with Croatia’s international Pula Airport, and graduated with a master’s degree in Aeronautics.

“I am confident that Dean is the right person to spearhead our new sales department - he has already hit the ground running with exciting ideas to boost our cargo services,” said Jonas van Stekelenburg, CEO, Maastricht Aachen Airport.

“He has a proven track record of elevating European airports, and his experience as a pilot and his education in aeronautics also give him a unique perspective on the operational side of the job.”

In addition to attracting new cargo customers and managing existing partnerships, Boljuncic will also be tasked with increasing cargo routes, capacity, and freight volumes at MST.

“My mission is to not only bolster the long-term economic sustainability of Maastricht, but also its environmental sustainability through the reduction of emissions and noise pollution,” said Boljuncic.

“Sustainability cannot be an afterthought – we must factor in environmental issues when making business decisions.”

The development of aviation shareholder relationships is another key priority of Boljuncic’s, and over the coming weeks he will be working to support the launch of a Regional Cargo Community supported by Air Cargo Netherlands.
