Lila Global joins INTERCARGO

Sep 17, 2025

Lila Global has joined the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (INTERCARGO), the voice of the dry bulk shipping industry.

The membership shows Lila Global’s focus on safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious operations across its fleet of 20 bulk carriers, ranging from Handysize to Capesize. By investing in vessel upgrades and digital optimization platforms, the company continues to deliver reliable performance for global commodity flows, including grain, iron ore, coal, bauxite, fertilizers and other dry cargoes.

INTERCARGO brings together bulk carrier owners and operators committed to higher levels of quality and accountability. Its work on the Dry Bulk Management Standard (DryBMS), safety benchmarking, and policy engagement at the IMO has created an essential platform that sets recognised standards across the sector and enables responsible dry bulk companies to demonstrate leadership.

Dr. Anil Sharma, Founder and CEO of Lila Global, said:

“Joining INTERCARGO is a meaningful step for Lila Global. Our values are closely aligned with its mission to raise industry standards. We operate a diverse fleet built around quality tonnage, and we see great value in sharing knowledge, benchmarking performance, and contributing to discussions that address safety, environmental impact, and operational reliability. INTERCARGO provides the right forum for us to collaborate with our peers and to support solutions that will define the future of dry bulk shipping.”

Capt. Uttam K Jaiswal Vice-Chairman of INTERCARGO, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Lila Global to INTERCARGO. Their growing fleet and focus on safety and sustainability reflect the values we uphold as an association. Each new member strengthens our collective voice at the IMO and in the wider industry, and we are pleased to see our membership continuing to expand with responsible companies that share our commitment to advancing dry bulk shipping.”

Over the past two years, Lila Global has expanded and modernized its fleet with technical enhancements, including ultra-low friction hull coatings, energy saving devices, and fuel optimization technologies. These steps have improved carbon intensity performance while supporting charterers with dependable schedules. Membership in INTERCARGO enables the company to strengthen these efforts through structured collaboration, shared learning, and collective advocacy.

For Lila Global, joining INTERCARGO is not just about membership but about contributing to a community of shipowners united under INTERCARGO’s leadership and committed to safe, sustainable, and commercially reliable dry bulk operations worldwide.
