Transborder freight between the U.S. and other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) in January 2020:
• Total Transborder Freight: $97.1 billion of transborder freight moved by all modes of transportation, up 1.5% compared to January 2019
• Most-used mode: Trucks moved $61.1 billion of freight, down 3.2% compared to January 2019
• Second most-used mode: Railways moved $13.4 billion of freight, up 3.9% compared to January 2019
Rail Freight: $13.4 billion (13.8% of all transborder freight)
• By border:
• U.S.-Canada: $7.4 billion (15.4% of all northern border freight)
• U.S.-Mexico: $6.0 billion (12.2% of all southern border freight)
• Compared to January 2019:
• U.S.-Canada down 2.0%
• U.S.-Mexico up 12.1%
The system will be deployed as part of the initial rollout on the fleet of one of its leading U.S customers, with implementation starting by the end of 2024
