INTERCARGO Statement of Support – New Seafarers International Relief Fund

May 05, 2021

INTERCARGO pledges its support for the newly launched Seafarers International Relief Fund and urges members and industry partners to contribute to the target of USD 1 million needed to deliver urgently needed support to seafarers and their families in India.

Seafarers and their families have faced a seemingly unending series of challenges since the COVID pandemic first struck. With the crew change crisis by no means over and the vaccination picture uncertain, the seafaring community has now received yet another blow as India fights to protect its population from the rising tide of COVID infections and seafarers are finding their families at home on the front line.

They need our help, and we urge our members and partners to support the global shipping community in this important initiative.
