HDR acquires multimodal transportation engineering firm WKE

Jun 01, 2021

HDR is expanding its multimodal transportation services by acquiring WKE, based in Santa Ana, California. Going forward, the firm will do business as HDR | WKE.

Founded in 2007, WKE’s expertise in design and construction management includes streets and highway corridors, bridges, runway structures, rail and transit facilities, and ports and harbors. WKE is highly regarded for its technical innovation and focus on quality and has delivered conventional design-bid-build and alternative delivery projects for public and private clients. Their practice complements HDR’s collaborative, full life cycle approach to infrastructure development and delivery of critical transportation programs in the Southwest region.

The two firms have worked together to deliver some of the nation’s most transformative transportation projects including most recently LINK Union Station redevelopment and I-605 Corridor Improvement Project for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

“WKE has been a valued partner for many years,” said HDR Chairman and CEO Eric Keen. “They bring knowledge, relationships and expertise to HDR that, when combined with our capabilities, deepen our ability to serve our clients in Southern California and beyond.”

“WKE looks forward to joining HDR in the management and delivery of transportation projects,” said Wei Koo, WKE president, partner and director of structures. “HDR will enable us to serve new clients and offer a wider range of services to our surrounding communities.”
