Hapag-Lloyd update: On demurrage and detention policy for the US

Apr 10, 2023

Therefore, Detention and Demurrage days for both empty and full containers are being charged on dates when the gate is open, and the port is operational.

With the above in mind, we will not charge Detention and Demurrage for days when the gate is closed, and the port is non-operational due to holidays or any other events resulting in port closures.

In addition to the above, the import detention will be invoiced to the consignee for merchant haulage shipments.

For the latest tariffs, please visit the Detention and Demurrage section of our website. If you should require additional information, please contact our customer service team at your location, who will guide you based on your individual situation.
