Port of Long Beach Receives Edmund G. ‘Pat’ Brown Award

one hour ago

The Port of Long Beach has been honored with the 2026 Edmund G. “Pat” Brown Award in recognition of its decades of work building a thriving economy through trade while being a responsible environmental steward. The award is presented annually by the California Council for Environmental and Economic Balance (CCEEB), a nonprofit, nonpartisan coalition of business, labor and public leaders.

The award, named for CCEEB founding chairman and former California Gov. Edmund G. Brown, is given to individuals and organizations whose activities protect the environment while enhancing economic growth.

“The Port of Long Beach continues to prove to the world that ports can grow green, and this recognition by the California Council for Environmental and Economic Balance validates what we are doing and how we are doing it – thoughtfully, strategically and collaboratively,” said Port of Long Beach CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba. “We thank the CCEEB for this tremendous honor and for their leadership in facilitating an effective balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship. As we build the Port of the Future guided by our 2050 vision, we will accelerate our economic engine and our transition to 100% zero-emissions operations.”

“Governor Pat Brown knew that economic prosperity and environmental sustainability can exist side-by-side,” said Long Beach Harbor Commission President Frank Colonna. “We are happy to continue his legacy of protecting the environment while we serve as a model for sustainable growth and an important economic engine in the nation’s greatest state.”
