Fraport traffic figures – February 2025: Traffic volumes hold steady in Frankfurt

Mar 13, 2025

Some 3.9 million passengers traveled via Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in February 2025. As a result, passenger numbers remained almost unchanged from the same month last year (down 0.1 percent). In February 2024, the extra leap day additionally boosted traffic volumes. At the same time, however, strikes on several days during that month negatively impacted passenger figures, offsetting the positive leap-year effect.

Cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) in Frankfurt declined marginally by 0.9 percent year-on-year in February 2025. Aircraft movements totaled 30,182 takeoffs and landings, representing no change from the previous year. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) slightly contracted by 0.8 percent year-on-year to around 1.9 million metric tons.

Fraport’s Group airports worldwide presented a mixed performance in February 2025. Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU) served 81,191 passengers in the reporting month, representing a drop of 5.8 percent year-on-year. In South America, the two Brazilian airports of Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) saw combined traffic slide by 4.0 percent to 891,998 passengers. In contrast, traffic at Peru’s Lima Airport (LIM) grew by 5.5 percent to roughly 2.0 million passengers. A total of 660,389 passengers used Fraport’s 14 Greek regional airports in February 2025, up 3.7 percent. On Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, the Twin Star airports of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) welcomed 71,802 passengers overall, a slight increase of 0.7 percent from February last year. Traffic at Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera decreased by 6.3 percent year-on-year to 899,720 passengers.

The total number of passengers at all airports actively managed by the Fraport Group rose by 0.2 percent year-on-year to around 8.4 million in February 2025.
