Envirotainer partners with Mercy Ships to support lifesaving healthcare delivery

Jan 22, 2026

Envirotainer has announced a new partnership with Mercy Ships. The partnership will support Mercy Ships’ mission of delivering free, lifesaving healthcare to underserved communities, where access to safe, affordable surgery is severely limited.

As part of the agreement, Envirotainer is donating the use of its cold chain solutions to help safeguard lifesaving medicines for patients receiving care on Mercy Ships’ hospital vessels. This includes the use of its ProofPak solution, a robust, reusable and easy-to-use packaging system that enables medicines to remain safe and effective even in the most challenging environments.

This partnership comes against the backdrop of a global healthcare crisis. Today, five billion people lack access to safe, affordable surgery. In sub-Saharan Africa, up to 69% of people live on less than £2 a day, putting healthcare out of reach for most. Mercy Ships operates two hospital vessels: the Global Mercy(TM) and the Africa Mercy(R). The ships dock at ports across Africa to provide vital medical procedures and training for local healthcare workers.

“Mercy Ships embodies the belief that everyone, everywhere, should have access to quality healthcare”, said Barbara Morgan, Regional President Americas at Envirotainer. “We’re honored to support their incredible mission. This partnership is about more than logistics; it’s about creating real impact for communities that have been underserved for far too long.”

Since its founding in 1978, Mercy Ships has performed more than 122,000+ surgical procedures and trained over 55,500+ healthcare professionals, creating sustainable impact long after the ships depart. Mercy Ships’ volunteers come from more than 60 countries, including surgeons, nurses, mechanics, teachers and engineers, all donating their time and expertise to support the charity’s work.

“Every day, our volunteer crews work to bring hope and healing to patients who would otherwise have no access to safe, affordable surgery”, said Simone Jones, Director of Global Corporate Partnerships at Mercy Ships. “Partnerships like this one with Envirotainer help make our work possible, ensuring that we can deliver the medicines and treatments needed to transform lives across the communities we serve.”

By partnering with Mercy Ships, Envirotainer is helping to make sure that lifesaving medicines can be delivered securely, enabling the charity’s medical volunteers to focus on what matters most: transforming lives through medicine.
