Easy ways to protect and maintain your goods services vehicle

Mar 19, 2020

As any goods service transportation agent knows, getting goods from point A to point B is a long and difficult journey. There are desolate roads, unkind conditions, salt, rain, debris and so much more for your vehicle to get dinged, dented and rusted. Protecting your vehicle from these elements is how you prolong its life and improve the safety of everyone on the road.

Upgrade Your Vehicle’s Backup Plans

Every trucker should have a first aid kit and a winter kit at the very least, but chances are yours are old, outdated, and frankly massive. Even the old booster cable setup and battery is far too old and big to take with you. You only have so much space in the carriage of your vehicle, and upgrading your kits is the easiest way to free up room.

Booster Batteries

Booster batteries, for example, now look nothing more than that useful little phone backup battery you’ve seen around or probably own. They are far more powerful, of course, but the best part is that you can use them as device chargers when you need to. They’re a handy addition to any vehicle.

Car Cleaning

There are now specially designed vacuums for vehicles, making it easier than ever to keep your home away from home clean and sparkling. Alongside some car wipes, you won’t ever need to cover the smell of your vehicle with air freshener’s ever again. Instead, you’ll just enjoy the smell of a clean car.

Winter Kit

Your winter kit will include things like a shovel, scraper, blanket, light and even a flare. What you might not realize is that you can get a full kit from agencies like AAA that are small, compact, and yet just as effective as their full sized counterparts.

First Aid Kit

First aid kits should have everything that you need but still be compact, so if yours is a collection of haphazardly put together items in a large box or duffle it’s about time to invest in a proper first aid kit that is:

  • Within its expiry date
  • Better packaged and easier to use

Install Paint Protection Film

A good way to reduce general wear and tear is to simply have Prestige Auto Armor install paint protection film around your vehicle. There are a variety of options as well, meaning you can have your most vulnerable areas wrapped in protective XPEL coating. Once installed, you won’t be able to see the additional protection, and yet you will enjoy superior stain resistance and protection from the cosmetic damages you are used to seeing over time. It’s a cost effective solution to improve the look and the longevity of your vehicle – a must for long haul routes.

Inspect Your Vehicle Before and After – Every Time

There are many reasons to inspect your vehicle before you continue on the road. One, you will need to make sure that all the bolts on the wheels are in the right position so you don’t run the risk of losing an entire wheel on the highway. Two, slush build-up, dirt build-up, road salt and so forth can eat through your vehicle and result in rust. A quick once-over can check to make sure all is well, and more importantly allow you the chance to give your vehicle a quick tune-up.
