The Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration announced over $70 million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance, Disaster Recovery, and Public Works Program grants to support businesses and communities adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic and natural disasters, and bolster public works projects to spur economic growth. These grants provide critical gap financing for local companies, support infrastructure improvement projects, and strengthen workforce development programs to help create jobs and generate private investments in communities across the country.
The Department of Commerce is committed to promoting equitable economic growth that strengthens U.S. businesses, creates good-paying jobs, and fosters innovation. Today, we are faced with an unprecedented pandemic affecting millions of Americans and businesses, a record number of natural disasters striking our country, and a tremendous need for infrastructure to create new opportunities. These grants are a step forward to advance a stronger economy for all and help businesses and communities build back better.
