Davies Turner Plc, the long-established international freight and logistics company, has jumped 42 places to 119th position in the latest Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 league table, sponsored by PwC and Lloyds Bank.
Says Davies Turner Chairman, Philip Stephenson: “This significant improvement in our ranking recognises not only our strong financial performance but the importance of our continuing focus on responding to ever-evolving customer needs, and developing our service portfolio and overseas network.
“As mid-market private businesses, Top Track 250 companies are an important engine of the UK economy and this year’s cohort had combined sales of almost £60.0 billion. These companies are predominantly owned by entrepreneurs, private equity firms and family holdings. It’s a prestigious club to be in.”
The rise up the Top Track 250 table follows Davies Turner’s earlier success in the British International Freight Association’s (BIFA) Freight Service Awards. Recognised as the UK’s premier freight and logistics awards scheme, Davies Turner won gold in the European Logistics category.
Stephenson adds: “This year, we were due to celebrate our 150th anniversary but the outbreak of the pandemic followed by lockdown, has meant postponing those celebrations temporarily.
“Achievements like those outlined above demonstrate how our focus on sustainable and profitable growth remains central to Davies Turner’s 150-year success under the same independent ownership.
“There will be more innovations and more progress to come as we develop our network and systems to help clients old and new with the management of their supply chains in combatting the effects of Covid-19. At the same time our teams are maintaining preparedness, recruitment and training for the end of the Brexit Transition Period on December 31st 2020.
“Our latest appearance in the Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 league table gives the company a Unique Selling Point in the market, which has been a characteristic of Davies Turner’s development and resilience throughout its 150 years.”
