CP&O, Ceres Marine unite stevedoring services at The Port of Virginia; move will drive efficiency

Jan 06, 2022

The Port of Virginia® today announced that two stevedoring services at the port will consolidate their efforts in a move that will further drive efficiency and growth at the port.

The consolidation of CP&O LLC and Ceres Marine Terminals, Inc. will unite the two stevedoring services under the CP&O brand. The combined experience of the organizations provides a greater opportunity for growth and efficiency, especially in light of the tremendous increase in demand for services to support The Port of Virginia, the nation’s most advanced port complex, said Stephen A. Edwards, CEO and executive director of the Virginia Port Authority.

“The Port of Virginia has provided best in class service in 2021 and been rewarded by our customers with 25 percent year over year growth,” Edwards said. “As we move into 2022 we will continue to improve and this new venture will help us turn more ships faster and move more cargo. Our steamship line customers will be provided an excellent choice for their stevedoring services from either CP&O or Virginia International Terminals.”

Effective March 2, CP&O LLC has entered into a new 10 year stevedore license agreement with the VPA to provide container stevedoring services at Virginia International Gateway (VIG) and Norfolk International Terminals (NIT). Under this agreement, port customers will have the choice of using CP&O or Virginia International Terminals to stevedore their vessels.
