The EnergIIZE (Energy Infrastructure Incentives for Zero-Emission) Commercial Vehicles Project is thrilled to announce the launch of the Drayage Public Set-Aside lane which will begin accepting applications on a rolling basis at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on October 19, 2023. Administered by CALSTART and funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC), this lane will offer more than $22 million in incentives and launch on the same day as the EnergIIZE Project’s EV Public Charging Station funding lane.
The Drayage Public Set-Aside lane is intended for California-based medium- and heavy-duty trucking fleets who are or will be California Air Resources Board (CARB) Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and Innovative Small e-Fleet (ISEF) applicants or recent recipients.
The Drayage Public Set-Aside lane offers a unique incentive structure, covering up to 75 percent of eligible equipment and software costs, up to a maximum of $2.8 million per project based on fuel type. Applicants that meet equity criteria (reference page 16) may be eligible for coverage of up to 90 percent of eligible equipment and software costs, and up to $3,920,000 per project based on fuel type. Eligible electric vehicle charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure equipment under the Drayage Public Set-Aside lane includes compressors, piping and pipelines, chillers, direct current fast-chargers (DCFC), Level 2 electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), switchgears, wiring and conduit, and meter mains.
"By launching the Drayage Public Set-Aside, we hope to accelerate the growth of shared and open access charging and refueling infrastructure for electric and hydrogen fuel cell drayage vehicles serving California's ports and railyards. This growth is especially important for fleets and operators that may lack access to depot charging,” said Alyssa Haerle, Director of Infrastructure Incentive Administration at CALSTART.
