Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) has been ranked the 12th largest cargo airport in the United States by landed cargo weight, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) latest annual cargo airport rankings.

The ranking marks RFD's highest-ever position in the FAA's annual list, climbing from 14th place in the previous edition following continued growth in cargo operations.

During 2025, the airport recorded 3,433,741,432 lbs of landed cargo weight.

"This latest FAA ranking reflects the continued confidence airlines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers place in Rockford," said Zack Oakley, Executive Director, Chicago Rockford International Airport.

"Our focus has always been on delivering an airport built around the needs of air cargo, and as volumes continue to grow, we're committed to providing the operational reliability, efficiency, and flexibility that our customers depend on."

In 2024, RFD recorded 3,144,024,639 lbs of landed weight, meaning the airport has driven a 9.21 percent increase over this year.

"Our customers benefit from an operating environment that allows them to move cargo faster and more efficiently," continued Oakley.

"With around-the-clock operations, dedicated cargo teams, available capacity, and the ability to scale alongside our partners, we're able to provide a level of service that is increasingly difficult to find elsewhere,” added Oakley.

"As we strengthen our position as a global cargo gateway connecting Europe, Asia, and the Americas, we remain focused on creating long-term opportunities for our customers and supporting the continued growth of international trade through Rockford."

The announcement follows RFD's recent expansion of its partnership with DSV, which will see the introduction of new scheduled weekly service between Luxembourg and Rockford.
