Cathay Pacific returns to Chicago with three-times-weekly service to Hong Kong

Sep 28, 2023

Cathay Pacific has announced it will recommence its nonstop service from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport on October 3, 2023, once again connecting these two great world cities.

The three-times-weekly flight, operated by the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, will depart Chicago at 4:05pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. CX807 will arrive in Hong Kong on the following day at 8:45pm. The return flight CX806 will depart Hong Kong at 12:30pm (local time) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Chicago at 2:25pm on the same day (complete schedule below).

Chicago O'Hare is one of Cathay Pacific's largest cargo ports in the Americas, drawing customers from all over Illinois and the Midwest. The resumption of CX806/807, with capacity for 14 pallets in the belly of the A350-1000 aircraft, will complement Cathay Cargo's eight-times per week dedicated freighter service to Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific Senior Vice President, Americas Chris van den Hooven said: “It is with great pride that we announce the return of Cathay Pacific’s nonstop service from Chicago to Hong Kong, demonstrating our continued growth and commitment to connecting our passengers to our home city following its reopening to international tourism earlier this year. As our industry continues to recover – and flourish – this is a major step forward for our airline and we look forward to welcoming passengers onboard.”

Jamie L. Rhee, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), which owns and operates both O’Hare and Midway International Airports, said: "On behalf of Mayor Brandon Johnson, we welcome Cathay Pacific back to Chicago with this frequent service to Hong Kong International Airport. The return of direct air service to Hong Kong is further evidence of O'Hare's continued strength as a global travel hub, and we look forward to serving as a key gateway for business and leisure travel between our two global cities for many years to come."

The airline’s customers will enjoy a superior experience when they fly between Chicago and Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific’s A350s are amongst the quietest and most environmentally friendly aircraft in the sky and are equipped with comfortable seating, an enhanced inflight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity across Business, Premium Economy and Economy classes. As the home carrier of Hong Kong, the flavors of Hong Kong feature prominently on any journey with Cathay Pacific, and the airline’s new plant-forward meals—a collaboration with restaurant VEDA by Ovolo—are a menu highlight in Economy and Premium Economy on flights departing Hong Kong.
