Cargolux renews GDP certification

Jan 28, 2020

Cargolux Airlines has successfully passed its GDP (Good Distribution Practice) renewal audit. The full re-certification attests that the company’s management system fulfils the requirements of the EU directive ‘Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use’ and of WHO guidelines.

This certification reflects the airline’s commitment to high standards, especially when handling sensitive commodities such as pharmaceuticals. The company has dedicated teams of cool chain experts experienced in the handling of healthcare goods to ensure seamless service. The GDP label also recognizes Cargolux’s specificity as an all-cargo carrier with a fleet of purpose-built 747 freighters that each offer 4 distinct temperature zone.
“Cargolux is proud of this achievement and the commitment our teams continuously demonstrate to the requirements of the EU Directive ‘GDP Guidelines of 05 November 2013 on Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 343/01)”, says Franco Nanna, Cargolux Director Global Logistics Services. “Healthcare and pharmaceuticals are highly sensitive products and we want to ensure our customers’ peace of mind during the transportation process. This certification represents a seal of approval from the industry which we intend to uphold in line with our commitment to service excellence.”
Cargolux became the world’s first GDP certified airline in January 2014, confirming its compliance with EU GDP/WHO requirements and Cargolux’s dedication to operate a consistent quality management system across the transportation process. Cargolux’s hub at Luxembourg airport is also GDP certified.
