cargo-partner opens first office in Greece

Oct 05, 2021

As a further step in its strategic expansion throughout Southeast Europe, the international transport and info-logistics provider has opened a branch office in Thessaloniki, Greece.

cargo-partner is continuing its expansion in Southeast Europe. After the opening of its first office in Skopje, North Macedonia, in March 2021, the logistics provider has now founded a new branch in Thessaloniki, Greece. Here, the new cargo-partner team will be offering comprehensive sea, air and road transport services to and from numerous hubs in Europe, the USA, Asia and Oceania.

Strategic position in Thessaloniki

Stefan Krauter, CEO of cargo-partner, explains: “Our new office in Thessaloniki benefits from the excellent geostrategic position of the city’s port, which is the second largest container port in Greece, after Piraeus. Thessaloniki is an important seafreight hub for a major part of Southeast Europe. It is also very close to North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia, where we are already represented with own offices and, in the case of Sofia and Belgrade, own warehouses as well. This makes Thessaloniki an essential link in our Southeast European network, allowing us to offer our customers even faster and more comprehensive logistics services.”

Acquisition of Arrow Freight Services

The new representation in Greece is based on an acquisition of the company Arrow Freight Services, which has now been renamed to cargo-partner Hellas P.C. Founded in 2012, Arrow Freight Services had been successfully operating in Greece for several years. cargo-partner’s new Thessaloniki office is starting out with a team of five employees, led by the former owner of Arrow Freight Services, Kostas Polatidis, who is now Managing Director of cargo-partner in Greece.

Focus on seafreight

In the immediate future, cargo-partner’s Greek subsidiary will focus primarily on FCL and LCL solutions in seafreight. However, the company’s service portfolio in Greece also includes airfreight and comprehensive door-to-door solutions. The most important trade lanes for cargo-partner in Greece include the Mediterranean region, Northern Europe, the USA, Egypt, Israel, the Far East and Australia. The Thessaloniki office will be serving clients from various industries, most notably the sectors foodstuffs, machinery and construction materials.
