cargo-partner acquires Transcargo in the Netherlands

Feb 25, 2021

As of February 16, 2021, cargo-partner has completed the acquisition of Transcargo in the Netherlands, consolidating the company’s growing footprint in Western Europe. This investment expands cargo-partner’s operations in the Netherlands and complements the existing service and product portfolio with Transcargo’s expertise in logistics, value added services, and overland services.

First complete acquisition in cargo-partner history

The integration of Transcargo will be led by cargo-partner Network B.V., which was founded in the Netherlands in 2006. Stefan Krauter, CEO of the cargo-partner group, on the significance of this investment: “This is the first complete acquisition in cargo-partner history and it will strongly support our strategic objectives to expand our end-to-end capabilities and our Western European business. Following the positive development of our activities in the Benelux region, including the representations at Liège airport and in Roermond which we opened last year, this is the next step in our ongoing expansion.”

Connecting Western, Central and Eastern Europe

The company began its partnership with Transcargo in May 2020 with an office and warehouse located in Roermond, the Netherlands. The warehouse is situated in a strategic logistics hot spot within 250 km of 10 million residents, with ideal airport and port connections and close to the borders to Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The Roermond office will be processing numerous national, international and overland shipments, while the new warehouse will function as a European distribution center for regional and global logistics. The logistics center offers 17,000 m² of storage space and is connected to cargo-partner’s network in Central and Eastern Europe by two weekly departures from Roermond to the company’s hub near Vienna Airport. From there, cargo-partner provides a wide range of line-haul connections throughout the region, with local last-mile distribution within 24 to 28 hours. Moreover, cargo-partner offers combined road and rail transport solutions from and to China via numerous rail transport hubs in Europe.

Mutual benefits for both company’s customers

cargo-partner now has over 50 staff in the Netherlands at three sites in Rotterdam, Schiphol, and Roermond. Stefan Krauter is highly optimistic about the ongoing collaboration with Transcargo: “As we move forward with the integration process, our primary focus is to retain all Transcargo customers and ensure seamless high-quality service, complemented by the added service portfolio which cargo-partner has to offer. Likewise, our own customer relationships will benefit from an expanded service range, growth of expertise and increased operational excellence. cargo-partner and Transcargo will continuously strive to offer our customers the best end-to-end solutions across Europe.”
