Capes Shipping Agencies expands U.S. Gulf Coast presence

Jul 23, 2025

Capes Shipping Agencies has expanded its U.S. Gulf Coast footprint with the opening of new offices in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mobile, Alabama, joining its recently opened location in Houston, Texas. Together, these expansions reflect a strategic commitment to the region and a growing demand for Capes’ high-touch, personalized service model across key markets.

As Capes continues to expand its Gulf Coast footprint, it is also building out its leadership to match. The region is now anchored by a seasoned team with deep maritime expertise:

  • Rodell Duff, Manager–West Gulf – Houston, TX
  • Gilbert Ortega, Port Manager – Corpus Christi, TX
  • Jennings Lawler, Port Manager – Mobile, AL

“We’re excited to have these seasoned professionals leading our Gulf Coast operations,” said Steve Hagen, Vice President and General Manager of Capes. “Their local expertise and strong industry relationships—combined with Capes’ personalized service model—will be a major asset to customers seeking top-tier port and vessel agency support in these key Gulf Coast markets.”

These additions build on Capes’ 2024 expansion into New Orleans, Louisiana, where the team continues to serve ports along the Lower Mississippi River. Together, these offices strengthen Capes’ ability to support clients across the Gulf Coast with trusted port coordination, localized insight, and proactive communication throughout each vessel’s port stay.

“Our people are what make us successful, and that’s especially true as we continue to grow along the Gulf Coast,” said Michael Coleman, President & CEO of CV International (CVI), Capes’ parent company. “We’re excited to welcome Rodell, Gilbert, and Jennings—their experience and local connections will help us deliver even greater value to our customers in the region.”
