Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers Chairman Heimgartner’s statement on FMC’s expanded supply chain investigation

Nov 20, 2020

The Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers applauds the Federal Maritime Commission’s responsiveness in addressing concerns that have been raised by the motor carrier communities in New Jersey, New York and California regarding the assessment of detention & demurrage, as well as the inefficiencies resulting from empty return policies.

We appreciate Commissioner Rebecca F. Dye's strong leadership in seeking to investigate these issues thoroughly, and the support expressed by Commissioner Daniel B. Maffei for the supplemental order on Fact Finding 29.

The Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers looks forward to continuing the open line of communication with the FMC, and cooperating with their investigation by providing documentation and information as needed.

-- Tom Heimgartner, Chairman, Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers
