ARTBA CEO Bauer issues statement on EPW markup of Surface Transportation reauthorization

May 26, 2021

ARTBA President and CEO Dave Bauer on the markup of the Surface Transportation Reauthorization Act of 2021 (STRA):

“For the second time in two years under a chairman from different political parties, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee has unanimously approved multi-year legislation to provide a major boost in highway investment.

“We commend Chairman Carper, Ranking Member Capito and the rest of the committee for keeping focused on the task at hand.

“The EPW Committee action sends an undeniable message to all that bipartisan progress is still achievable.  We urge the remaining Senate committees with jurisdiction over surface transportation programs to find similar common ground and complete action on their respective portions of a reauthorization bill as soon as possible to ensure a final measure is in place before the current short-term extension expires September 30.”
