ARC’s first vessel returns to Port of Baltimore

Jun 24, 2024

American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) resumed regular calls on the Port of Baltimore, starting with the loading of the M/V ARC Integrity on June 16 at the Mid-Atlantic Terminal in Dundalk, Maryland.

We are excited to be part of ARC’s return to Baltimore. Despite the immediate aftermath of the tragedy in Baltimore, everyone stepped up to ensure the nation's maritime transportation system continued seamlessly. We commend the dedication and adaptability of both the company and the crews,” said David Heindel, President of the Seafarers International Union (SIU).

The M/V ARC Integrity resumed its normal operations, loading a typical assortment of vehicles for export, as well as other rolling stock and breakbulk destined for discharge in ports in Europe.

Baltimore is the largest Ro/Ro port in the nation and a critical port for ARC’s operations in support of the U.S. Transportation Command. For calendar years 2022 and 2023, ARC moved nearly 25,000 units of cargo per year via Baltimore. This makes its opening important not only for the U.S. economy, but also for national security.

“We are coming back strong and looked forward to ARC coming back,” said Scott Cowan, the President of International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local 133.

ARC again expresses our deepest sympathy to all those affected by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on March 26, 2024. ARC also thanks our customers, partners, and suppliers for working with us and the port of Baltimore during this terrible incident.
