Arc joins the Maritime Battery Forum

The Maritime Battery Forum (MBF) is pleased to welcome Arc as the newest member of its global community of maritime battery enablers. As a U.S.-based marine technology company developing fully integrated electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems, Arc brings a unique combination of battery engineering, software, and propulsion expertise to the Forum. Through its membership, Arc will contribute valuable real-world experience in designing and deploying complete electric powertrain systems across recreational, commercial, and defense vessels.

Engineering the next generation of electric vessels

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Arc is on a mission to modernize the maritime industry through electric propulsion. Unlike many marine technology companies, Arc designs its battery systems, powertrain, thermal management systems, and software entirely in-house, creating a fully integrated electric propulsion platform optimized for performance, reliability, and safety. Today, the company's technology is powering recreational boats while rapidly expanding into commercial and government applications.

Arc's vertically integrated approach allows the company to optimize every aspect of vessel performance, from battery management and propulsion control to software and thermal systems, providing customers with a cohesive platform that scales from high-performance recreational boats to ferries, tugboats, workboats, and defense vessels.

Batteries at the heart of every design

From its earliest products, including the Arc One and Arc Sport, Arc has treated batteries as a core engineering discipline rather than an off-the-shelf component. This philosophy has shaped the company's architecture from day one, recognizing that battery performance, safety, and reliability ultimately determine what is possible on the water.

By engineering complete propulsion systems in-house, Arc has gained end-to-end visibility into how battery systems perform under demanding maritime conditions, allowing continuous optimization across hardware, software, and energy management.

Expanding commercial electrification

Arc is now applying its technology to larger commercial vessels, where electrification can deliver significant operational and environmental benefits. The company is currently developing a fleet of eight electric tugboats for deployment at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, one of the largest electric workboat initiatives in North America. The first tugboat propulsion system has already been certified, creating opportunities for deployment across additional tugboat, ferry, and barge applications.

Lessons learned from these demanding commercial programs are now informing Arc's broader portfolio of commercial and government vessel projects, reinforcing the scalability of its integrated electric platform.

Contributing a full-stack perspective

Arc brings a distinctive perspective to the Maritime Battery Forum through its fully integrated engineering model. Designing both the hardware and software for complete propulsion systems provides the company with unique insights into battery safety, packaging, thermal management, manufacturing, and real-world vessel performance.

Founded by engineers with backgrounds in aerospace and automotive industries, Arc combines cross-sector innovation with hands-on maritime deployment experience. The company looks forward to sharing these insights with MBF members while learning from the broader community as maritime battery technologies continue to evolve.
