Amazon, retailers use green e-cargo for holiday deliveries in NYC

Nov 19, 2021

URB-E is saving the holidays by making up for delays in the last mile caused by the supply chain crunch. On the streets of NYC, people have spotted Amazon delivering using URB-E - the fastest growing green e-cargo delivery platform in the U.S.

URB-E’s folding electric vehicles and collapsible containers can haul 800 lbs. of cargo in the confines of bike lanes and can easily roll on and off trucks. Riders who prefer the exercise from bicycle deliveries also have the assist from torque, helping them to ride for longer periods of time.

On November 12, New York City’s top transportation and street planners took demo rides on URB-Es on West 35th Street. New York City will also gain an additional benefit from combating e-commerce delivery congestion with URB-Es thanks to the elimination of carbon emissions.

“During our months-long pilot with AxleHire delivering from Brooklyn to Manhattan, we found that if just a quarter the packages delivered in New York City were handled as e-cargo, it would take more than 4,000 large trucks off the road every day, resulting in an annual CO2 savings of 38,000 metric tons per year,” said Charles Jolley, CEO of URB-E.
