Ali Mir to lead WSP USA Advisory and Transportation 
in Southern California and Nevada

Experienced leadership to expand transportation and consulting capabilities in the SoCal/Nevada district.

Ali Mir has joined WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, as a vice president and leader of the Advisory and Transportation business lines in the firm’s Southern California/Nevada District.

Mir will set the direction for the Advisory business, which performs WSP USA’s core consulting work, and its best-in-class work in transportation planning, urban planning and environmental planning. He also will be responsible for expanding the district’s Transportation capabilities. 

“Ali’s education and experience will lend itself to further integrating advisory services across all of our business lines,” said Chris Peters, West region president at WSP. “His relationships in the transportation sector will bring new ideas and perspectives and broaden WSP’s reputation as the best-in-class provider of transportation services in the Southern California/Nevada District.”

Mir’s extensive experience in transportation, in both the public and private sectors in California, includes work on multi-modal corridor projects and transit line extensions from feasibility to construction.

Most recently, he was a vice president and the West region planning director for a U.S.-based architectural, engineering, planning, environmental and construction management firm. He has led several successful projects for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Southern California Regional Rail Authority, California High-Speed Rail Authority, Federal Railroad Administration, Orange County Transportation Authority and Riverside County Transportation Commission.

Mir is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in public policy, management and planning with an emphasis in urban design. He is an Envision sustainability professional (ENV SP) certified by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. 

A member of the American Planning Association, Mir recently completed his term as its director of equity for the Los Angeles Section Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Association of Environmental Professionals and WTS-Los Angeles.
